3. Preparing for Your Dose
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.
Prepare your medication in a clean, well-lit area.
Verify medication name, dosage strength, and expiration date.
If using a multi-dose vial, cleanse the rubber stopper with an alcohol pad.
Draw up the prescribed dose or prepare your pen injector as instructed.
Remove visible air bubbles from syringes as directed.

4. Approved Injection Sites (For Injectable Medications)
Common subcutaneous injection sites include:
• Abdomen, avoiding the two-inch area around the navel
• Outer thighs

Rotate injection sites with each dose to minimize irritation and reduce tissue complications.
5. Injection Technique
Clean the selected injection site with an alcohol pad and allow to dry.
Gently pinch the skin to create a fold.
Insert the needle at a 90-degree angle for pen injectors or 45–90 degrees for syringes as instructed.
Deliver the full dose slowly and steadily.
Remove the needle and dispose of it immediately in a sharps container.
Apply light pressure if needed. Do not massage the site.
